Buhweju District

CICD is currently operating in Buhweju district, South western Uganda with a population of 12,070+ people (UBOS, 2016).  Buhweju boarders Rubirizi district in west and north west, separated by Kastyoha-Kitomi forest reserve. Ibanda district in North east, mbarara district in the east, Sheema district in south east and Bushenyi district in South west. Buhweju is 310 Km from Kampala.  80% of Buhweju district topography is hilly and mountainous which makes it a tourist destination. The main economic activities in Buhweju district are agriculture, mining and small scale bussiness. On the other hand, the mountanious nature of Buhweju impede access to market, infrastructure development that hinder steady growth and poverty reduction.
